Jim Lewis, reporter at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, said Monday that Steven Jackson has voided his final contract year with the St. Louis Rams. This doesn't necessarily mean that the Rams won't try to sign Jackson, but it would be smart to let him go since his $7 million contract is a little too pricey for the transitioning Rams.
The top-teams that need a RB are the Packers, Giants, Broncos and Falcons, emphasis on the Falcons. Atlanta will most likely let Michael Turner go and upgrade to Jackson, the 29 year old running back who has put up at least 1,000 yards every year since 2005.
Atlanta seems like the perfect fit for Jackson, who will probably finish his career with the team who signs him this off-season and who wants to finish his carrer with a Super Bowl contending team. There's no doubt anymore that Atlanta has the talent to make it there and who knows, maybe Steven Jackson is the missing piece of the puzzle for the Falcons who ended their season with a disappointing 28-24 loss to the 49ers.
